Jan Farrell now lives in Sydney but has travelled extensively. Her work has been influenced by time spent in Paris, Sweden and England.
She has studied with Ingrid Johnstone, Bernhardine Mueller, Judith White, Mieke Cohen, Tony Tozer, Michael Taylor, Peter Griffen, Elizabeth Cumming and Michael Herron.
Inspired by many walking holidays, notably treks through Tasmania, Jan loves to experiment with colour and texture. Her seductive works are the result of many layers and transformations.
Her favourite print media include collagraphs, etchings, solar prints and monotypes. The monotypes are lively and exciting and have a painterly feeling.
Many of Jan's works have been inspired by adventures to Cape York and the Kimberley.
Her works are held in private collections Australia wide and overseas.
